Olufunke’s Story

Olunfunke Ajileye is the mother of 2 who migrated from Nigeria as a Refugee due to political instability, the ongoing violence in her homeland. Coming to Canada, she has hopes of providing a better life for herself and her children.

Her Doctor wrote a letter of recommendation explaining that “Ajileye is unable to ravel for medical reasons. She has chest pains and has recently been diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder. She also recently had breast surgery and developed complications, which is currently bing managed. Please support her in whatever way possible.

On July 7th, Olufunke visited the TAMOGO Headquarters but during her visit, she started to experience chest pains that made it very difficult for her to breathe. The TAMOGO Founder Alicia then proceeded to calling the Paramedics where she was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder & complications from her breast surgery.

She underwent surgery in late April of 2022 after a large lump was found in her breast. The lump was removed however she started to experience complications afterwards where her young began to bleed & became infected. She was given painkillers due to her complications. Olufunke is also taking pills due to her anxiety disorder and throughout all of these medical concerns, a lump appears on her daughter’s neck.

This medical condition seems to be hereditary because her Olunfunke’s mother passed away due to the same condition due to not having access to proper medical care. Olunfunke fears that her and her daughter’s health with be in great jeopardy if she is deported back to Nigeria due to the lack of medical care/support.

Olufunke is a member of the TAMOGO Foundation where she partakes in many community initiatives which include their Food/Clothing Program where they donate to those in need within the Humber River-Black Creek Community.

Her date of removal was set for August 5th, however when she set to board her flight, she fainted and was rushed to the hospital. Afterwards, she was then detained by the CBSA where she was released on August 8th. They have given her another date of removal but we are pleading with the IRCC, Refugee Board of Appeal, & government of Canada to grant her PR and allow her to stay in Canada.
